'I will not spare him today!! Let him come...if he is Arnav Singh Raizada than I am: Khushi Kumari Gupta-Singh Raizada!!' Khushi huffed angrily as she stuffed her mouth with chick-peas, while pacing around the room, waiting for her husband to come home.
'Uh Khushi ji, may be you-' NK tried to intervene, in hope to calm her down.
'NO! No Nanhe Ji, don't try to calm me! He deserves it today!!' Khushi rounded on him, as he observed her pacing, sweating out of nervousness for having revealed to Khushi Arnav's next three days itinerary thereby causing her anger to escalate on his cousin. Well Arnav really should have postponed his big conference, which would carry on for the next three days keeping him completely busy and not to mention out of town; he knew Khushi better than anyone else, to not have realized how angry she would get when she found out. He was in for it.
'No. No. I wasn't thinking about calming you, why would I think that? You have every right to be angry.' NK now tried reverse psychology in hopes to get through. 'Nannav totally deserves your wrath. I mean usne kaam hi aisa kiya jiss se aap khaufnak [scary] hojaye.'
'What?' Khushi stopped in mid-walk, 'Oho Nanhe ji, khaufnak nahi, Khafa [angry]. Khaufnak would suggest I had turned into a monster.' She corrected him and went back to measuring the length of her room. While NK thought about what she said, although he had meant the latter, now that he had learnt the meaning of the first phrase he thought may be that better described her state at the moemnt. Seeing how anger flushed in her cheeks and emanated fire from her eyes. He thought for one wild moment he could actually see smoke puffing out of her nostrils, just like a dragons' did. 'What? Why are you staring at me like that? Did I get a chick-peas in my hair or something?' Khushi asked him, when she found him staring at her wide-eyed.
'Hunh? No I was just thinking about drag- I mean Khushi ji, maybe you should sit down, I mean in your condition you really shouldn't be walking so much.' He caught himself, before he revealed how he was imagining her as a giant dragon ready to slay Arnav.
'Nanhe Ji, I have a mere cut on my finger, with minimal blood loss, so I am fully capable of walking.' Khushi waved her bandaged finger, annoyance in her eyes.
'Or so you think Khushi. You are capable of falling even if you are walking bare foot on a flat surface with nothing around you. You are a hazard to yourself, as I have said many times.' Arnav mocked her as he entered the room, oblivious to the volcano that was ready to erupt out of his wife.
'Nannav!! You're here!! Good. Good.' NK exclaimed a little too loudly, making Arnav look at him with confusion. Why did he feel the need to announce his arrival, when his very presence there had done that? He wondered, then chalking it up to just another one of the many things he would never be able to decipher about NK, he shrugged and continued on in to his room, towards his lovely wife, whose cheeks were extra flushed today, giving her a sexy glow. Damn he loved her!
However, he had not advanced two steps past NK, when NK yanked him back, 'What the-?' He exhaled, as he suddenly found NK's arm encircling his neck and resting on his shoulders. 'Excuse me?' he stared at him questioningly.
'Oh, ehm.' NK unwrapped his arm from around him, but didn't let go, 'Nannav, mere bhai...There is something I really need to discuss with you. Very important, top-'
'NK-'
'NO WAY NANHE JI! NOT A CHANCE! HE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE!! You will not save him today!' Khushi leapt across the room and pulled at Arnav's arms yanking him towards herself, to stop NK from rescuing him from her wrath.
'Waow, Khushi. Fiesty. I like.' He murmured in her ear, making her turn pink. Then redden with anger again, as she let go of his arm but stood between him and NK. 'Thank you Nanhe ji for your company but I'm sorry you cannot spare him from me!' She said defiantly. NK gave in and walked out, but not before wishing his brother the best of luck, which he didn't comprehend until Khushi had slammed the door behind NK and turned around on him, hands on her hips, shaping out her tiny waist which he now saw he was not going to have permission to come anywhere near.
'Khushi...' He anxiously cried out her name, as he placed his laptop bag down on the coffee table, all the while keeping his eyes locked on hers' hoping for her to give something away that would tell him why he was in trouble.
'Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada.' she started. She was using his full name and addressing him with formality, this was not good at all. What had he done that had earned him such a severe punishment, of formality from the never sticking-to-personal boundaries Khushi.
'How could you?!' she demanded.
'How could I...' he repeated in order for her to continue and allow his crime to be revealed.
'Yes, how could you?!!' she puffed her chest angrily.
Uh oh. She thought he knew what he was talking about. 'How could I...' he trailed hoping she would fill in the gaps but she didn't, only stared at him waiting for his explanation, he was going to have to ask and get further into trouble, 'what Khushi?' he asked with the most innocent face he could muster up.
'What?!' she stared at him in confusion and then realized that he not only had committed the crime but didn't even realize it. 'WHAT?!! WHAT?! ARNAV JI?!! Urgh...' She groaned in irritation as she advanced towards him like a lioness about to pounce on her pray. 'Not only did you decide to leave tomorrow but you don't even know what is tomorrow?!!'
'Khushi-' he began, wanting to correct her. He was well aware of what was tomorrow.
'NO!! Arnav ji, how could you forget! Tomorrow is the sixth of June marking ou-'
'First Anniversary. Yes I know Khushi.'
'You know?' she was taken back, he knew and still he... 'You know and still you are planning to go away for three days.'
'We are going-' he corrected, but she wasn't listening.
'Leaving me all alone on our first Anniversary. How could you?!! Do you know how many plans I had made, we were going to celebrate it, like Salman ji does in his films...in grand style.' Her face hazed over as she relived her dream Anniversary celebration and then her face twisted as she turned back to him, hurt, 'How could you Arnav ji?!!' she asked again, no longer fuming, but just upset now.
'Khushi Kumari Gupta- Singh Raizada...if you ever stopped to listen to me instead of going on in your tangent, then you would have heard that I am not leaving you alone on our Anniversary.'
'But you are going to-'
'WE are going.' He amended yet again.
'We?' this time she heard. 'Why will I go? I have no interest in going to Mumbai and staying in a hotel room all day while you spend your whole time with other unromantic suits like yourself in the conference.'
'Who said anything about a conference?' Arnav asked, confused.
'Nanhe ji. He told me how you said you had a big conference to attend that would last three days and so will be going out of town and so no celebration was to take place on our Anniversary.' She pouted unhappily.
'NK.' Arnav gritted his teeth. Leave him to make a mess of things. He had told Anjali and Nani this so they didn't plan a party and invite guests as neither Khushi nor him would be in Delhi, NK must have heard and related the news to Khushi, which he had not wanted to happen. 'Khushi we are not going to Mumbai to attend any conference, that was just the cover story I fed Nani and Di, so they didn't make any grand plans but at the same time I didn't want them to know where we were going because I wanted that secret to stay between us.'
'Hunh? What do you mean? There is no conference?' Khushi asked him puzzled.
'No there is, but I haven't employed a hundred people under me to twiddle their thumbs. Aman is going to attend and represent me. Being my PA he knows me and my decision making process the best, therefore he will shortlist potential clients and when I get back I will go through them.' Arnav explained.
'So you are not going to the conference, but instead we are going...where?' She mulled over what he said and then turned back to him, as she realized he hadn't told her where they were going.
He gave his wicked half-smile. 'I thought you would never ask.'
'Tell me Arnav ji where are we going?'
'That, my impatient wife is a surprise and you will find out when we get there.'
'Impatient? I'm not impatient.' She defended herself.
'No not all. And the last ten minutes were definitely not evidence of that.' He teased.
'That...that wasn't impatience, it...it-'
'It was your inability to wait and hear me out, before jumping to your own conclusions.' He smirked.
'Well yes....that...uffo, tell me.' She tugged at his arm excitedly.
'No. First you tell me, Khushi Kumari Gupta-Singh Raizada,' he said each word with a step in her direction as she took one back, 'how could you...' it was his turn to ask, 'How could you think that I not only would make our first Anniversary special but would actually forget it?' her back found the wall and he pinned her to it.
'A-arnav ji.' She stammered.
'Yes?' he leaned closer, causing her heart to beat violently as her chest heaved, making her short of breath. 'You didn't answer my question, Khushi.' He whispered in her hair, next to her left ear, making her eyes close on their own will and take in the feel of his warm breath brush softly on the side of her neck, causing a tinkling sensation in the pit of her stomach.
'I...'
'Mmmhhhmmm...I'm waiting for your response.' He murmured against her right cheek now, where he kissed the mole next to her ear.
'Arnav ji...' she mumbled as she pushed him away, getting away from him, blushing. But he caught her wrist before she could escape and reeled her back in, sliding her right against his chest.
'Khushi...Raizada.' He shortened name huskily, 'How could you think you could get away with accusing me of such a crime, you must pay for it...now.' he pushed her right wrist, the was trapped in his left hand, against the small of her back while his right palm cradled her head, bringing her closer to him, as he leaned in to claim his payment for her wrongful accusation. However, before he could taste the sweetness of her lips, she pushed him away: mirth in her eyes.
'No. Not until you don't tell me where we are going, you won't get your payment!' she taunted as she ran away from him.
'Have it your way then.' He ran after. They both ran around the room, making a mess of the bed and duvet, then ran outside where she put the pool between them, teasing him from the other side, only to end up getting herself dis-balanced and land once again in Arnav's quick arms. He pulled her towards him, first to safety then to claim his prize, but she pushed away again ready to run when something pulled her back.
'Ssllleeeaaahhh!!! Aaah Arnav ji.' She cried out in pain, as her hair got knotted around his vest button.
'Wait... hold still Khushi, let me untangle it.' Arnav ordered.
'Oww!! It hurts.' She whimpered.
'I know, hold still.' He gently unwound the tangled strands, freeing her from the pain.
She straightened up, to find his eyes appraising her lovingly. She admired back, for while, conducting their favourite silent conversation, then her eyes turned mischievous again as his turned hungry with passion and she ran away from him, again, back into the room. He ran after her. hearing his footsteps behind her she turned to face him, as she ran backwards away from him.
'You can't ca-AAATTTCH - ARNAV JI!!' she bellowed out in alarm, in her desire to tease him, she hadn't judged where the edge of the bed was causing her to stumble backwards and fall. Arnav leaped towards her, trying to break her fall, only to slip over the duvet that they had thrown on the floor earlier causing him to fall on top of her and land with a loud crash on the bed, breaking it.
They both looked around them from the depths of the caved-in bed and then burst into laughter at seeing the wreckage, they were responsible for.
'So much for you getting your payment.' Khushi mocked him, seeing as how the bed was broken now, it was useless for what Arnav wished to do.
'The broken bed may be able to save you tonight Khushi, but nothing will save you the next three days.' He forewarned her making a thousand butterflies flutter inside her stomach.
'So where are we going?' she asked again.
'No chance of you finding out now.' He goaded.
'But...if you don't tell me, then how will I know what clothes to pack, warm or cold?' she asked innocently, hoping that would get her answer.
'No need to pack clothes Khushi, I don't plan on taking you sight-seeing.' He winked. 'And as for warm or cold, no need to worry I am going to make sure you stay toasty-warm there.' Her whole face turned crimson, as she averted his gaze.
'O wow. Who knew Khushi Kumari Gupta-Singh Raizada could be coy too?' he admired.
She shifted under him, wanting to get up. He decided not to confine her anymore and heaved himself up, then pulled her up and out of the broken bed. They both stared at the jumble.
'So where do we sleep tonight?' she asked, the question that was echoing in both their minds.
They both looked around the room and their eyes landed on the, 'Settee.' They both exclaimed together. Then smiled at how they both thought of the same thing.
Tidying up the room, as best as they could she left Arnav to pack their things as he wouldn't tell her where they were going and therefore what she needed to pack and not. Plus Arnav claimed that he was the better packer, something she didn't dispute, for she knew she was terrible; she always threw everything inside the suitcase instead of folding it neatly and placing them to make room for everything. What Arnav managed to fit into one case, Khushi would fit in three. She was always much too excited about the trip, hence packed like the blitz had hit them in the hope to get it done fast so they could be on their way.
Suitcase packed. Dinner had. NK relieved to find Arnav in one piece, even if the bed wasn't. Nani and Anjali assuaged with the promise of a grand party, when the two got back. They turned in for the night, Khushi in Arnav's arms on the settee. Both happily dreaming of the coming next three days where they would be with each other only: no one to interrupt them.

This is a video mix I made on this one shot, mashing up old scenes of ArShi to replicate the action in this scene I penned. This video isn't on any song but rather contains audio from the show itself.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
