There is a girl
Who stands at the shore of the sea
Staring out
Soaking her feet.
She seems to be watching the waves
But her eyes are closed, deep in thought.
She stands there
Day after day
People watch her but she seems not to notice.
They tell stories about her:
Some say her lover is out at sea,
Some say her loved one drowned in that sea,
Some say she lost her senses,
They all have stories to tell about her
But no one knows why she stands there day after day.
They all watch her, but no one approaches her.
I stand listening
My hair wild in the wind
The salty sea air playing on my face
My feet wet in the water
But I don’t tell my story
For it is not about any pain or sorrow
So I keep quiet, letting them revel in the mystery-
Of the girl who stands alone by the sea.
Who stands at the shore of the sea
Staring out
Soaking her feet.
She seems to be watching the waves
But her eyes are closed, deep in thought.
She stands there
Day after day
People watch her but she seems not to notice.
They tell stories about her:
